All sorts

Filed under: The Mothership Talk — Cara @ 10:10 am

Greetings friends, this is Ninja speaking. Just a wee little blog to thank everyone that watched us play at Gold Coast Gay Day, it was a fun day. I even got mistaken for a boy by a drag queen! Oh the irony of it all! Anyway just a reminder that we have another gig coming up this Thursday the 13th of May at an event called ALL SORTS. All sorts is an initiative of the Handful of fragments collective which our very own bass player Moneth  is a part of. (Also our guitarist Jasmin did some really cool posters and art for All Sorts) Anyway, Moneth is working super hard on this night so I want you all to give her a pat on the back. I guess to actually do that you’re gunna have to come to the gig…it’s only 5 bucks…even us uni kids can afford that.

So remember this Thursday night, 13th of May at Alloneword in Fortitute Valley from 6pm-11pm. Pay 5 dollars and you’ll get to see three bands, some art and some roving performances.

Cheers,

- Ninja

Filed under: The Mothership Talk — Alannah @ 1:14 pm

Hello Commrades!

Ninja and Lamb reporting. We thought we should blog because we just remembered how to. LUCKY YOU!! We do have some updates though, so there will be some purpose to the rambling.

UPDATE ONE.

A little delayed, but welcome to the mothership family Jasmine ‘Jazz’ Angel, our new lead singer!!! After making it through the grueling audition process, Jazz blew us away with her complete transformation of Misery Business by Paramore. She brings an amazing voice, as well as stupendous keyboard skills. Come say hey at one of our upcoming gigs (more on that later).

UPDATE TWO

Gigs, gigs, and more gigs! Actually there is only two BUT that is all the more reason for you to come!! We have been lucky enough to be offered a spot at the Gold Coast Gay Day. We aren’t on the main stage but if you look hard enough, you’ll find us on a side stage somewhere! The second gig is at and event called Allsorts, which is happening at Alloneword in Fortitude Valley (right next to The Step Inn). Allsorts is an event hosted by the Our Handfull of Fragments Collective, which is a Brisbane based Creative Industries production company.Check back soon, as Jasmin will have some pretty pictures telling you all the details.

Gold Coast Gay Day : May 2 : 5pm : Gold Coast Parklands

Allsorts : May 13th : 7pm (subject to change) : Alloneword

UPDATE THREE

Our website is soon to be updated! Jasmin is conjuring up a Killer Bunny for Jazz (yes we realise how confusing having two Jasmin(e)s in the band is), as well as promo for our gigs. So check back soon!

We are also putting the wheels in motion for our first EP. We hope to have something at our upcoming gigs, and then a more polished cd in the upcoming months. We have been working hard at practice and have completely reworked some of our old stuff. Our youtube channel is the best place to hear anything new we are working on, so subscribe to it!!

Adios Amigos!

We regret to inform you of the loss of our beloved band mascot Goober. There was a horrible accident and Goober has now gone to Dinosaur heaven. We will miss you Goober. In other news…Goober’s cousin Gary has come to stay with us and he will be taking over Goober’s job of band mascot. Gary has some big shoes to fill but we look forward to you all meeting him.

I hope I see you at the cultural centre on the 8th! 6pm sharp.
